A Break in the Weather/Longest Running Mayor

HURRICANES AND WEATHER
Focal area for storms on Friday will extend from the southern plains to the Tennessee Valley. Plenty of warm weather across the south, including 90s in south Texas and the desert Southwest. Highs for the northern plains and western Great Lakes states will be in the 50s.

No big downpours in Houston today!!! Looks like the next round of the rain will be late Sunday, early Monday as the jet takes a slight dip over the southern plains. Some slightly drier air early next week but the warm afternoons will continue.

SPANISH WORD OF THE DAY
Let's do mayor or alcalde, pronounced ahl-CAHL-day. Who is the longest running alcalde on record? You might be surprised at what I learned today. See AND MORE section for details.

We haven't won any recognition for longevity, but our DVD, Let's Learn Spanish with Frank & Paco, has been honored as one of the Top 10 Educational Products of 2008 from Dr. Toy. AND MORE
My dear friend Evelyn Traylor gave me an interesting tip. She recently attended an event held in the home of Richmond mayor, Hilmar Moore. Now, here is the amazing thing--he has been mayor since September 22, 1949. So this Setpember 22nd, he will have been mayor for 60 continuous years!!! Some sources say he is the record holder for longest running mayor in Texas (some say in the U.S.). Check out this link for more:

Photo at right is of Teddy with the bigger of the two twins I announced last Friday. That's little Michael there. Alexander isn't quite up to that level of brotherly love yet. But, he will be soon! Can't wait to hug them all!

Have a fantastic Friday everyone!
