Summer has Arrived!/Twilight Poll Results/New Poll

HURRICANES AND WEATHER
Some severe weather is possible in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas on Tuesday. There could also be thunderstorms from there to the eastern seaboard and some rain in the Pacific Northwest. The weather will be very mild of the entire country with 60s and 70s across the northern tier of states and 80s and 90s across the south.

Houston, wasn't the morning refreshing and wasn't the afternoon hot?!!! Well, the humidity has crept back in and it is really going to be hot for the foreseeable future! Rain chances will stay low however as the jet stream and associated disturbances stay well to the north.

SPANISH WORD OF THE DAY
Let's do mom or mamá, pronounced mah-MAH. See our new poll to tell the world your favorite memory of your mamá.

Mamá is one of the first words we teach in our award winning DVD, Let's Learn Spanish with Frank & Paco. That is because that is a very important person to a youngster. And, mother or madre is too formal for little kids (and most of us for that matter). Order your copy from www.frankandpaco.com/. You can also order from http://www.venturaes.com/, http://www.dololanguages.com/, http://www.carlexonline.com,www.thecuriousmindstore.com/, http://www.amazon.com/,http://www.bestbuy.com/, and http://www.barnesandnoble.com/. Volume 2 is almost ready for release and Volume 3 will follow soon thereafter!!! For our English as a Second Language (ESL) version, got to http://www.frankypaco.com/.

AND MORE
Now that the weather has been dry for about a week, it is easy to forget those who were hit so hard by the torrential rains of the last 2 weeks. The following link to a Chronicle story by my friend, Leslie Williams, tells of one Bear Creek area family's plight:

Thanks Leslie and keep 'em coming!

Thinking about planting corn...you had better hurry. My plants are growing fast thanks to all the rain and now the warm temperatures. But, you need to have enough plants to make it work...and I'll be honest. I've never grown corn before. But, I planted 4 rows (per the instructions on the package). I think I may help with the cross-pollinating just in case.

Our poll on the "Twilight" experience has closed. 28% said they enjoyed both the movie and book and 28% said they enjoyed only the book. 42% said they don't understand what the big deal is. (Gordy did you answer the poll? Ha! Ha!) 0% said they enjoyed only the movie, did not like the book, did not like the movie, don't plan to watch the movie, don't plan to read the book, can't stop thinking about it. Thanks to all who participated.

Our new poll honors our dear mothers--what is your favorite memory of your mom...only one answer is allowed. Otherwise, some of you might check them all. Enjoy! And Happy Mother's Day to all moms!

Now, that it is feeling like summer, I thought you might enjoy seeing the Climate Prediction Center's temperature outlook for the week ahead. Clear those winter clothes out of your closet! And, I have also posted the Climate Prediction Center's drought outlook. Things are projected to get better in Texas.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
