More Pleasant/Dr. Neil Frank's New Career/New Poll

HURRICANES AND WEATHER
Weak, late spring cold front has brought some storms to the south and southeast as it treks eastward. On Thursday, there may be some severe weather in south Texas and in Alabama and Georgia. Thunderstorms are possible across much of the southeast and northeast. Cool in New England with highs in the 50s and 60s and hot in the desert southwest--Phoenix should hit the century mark. Most of the rest of the country will reach the 70s and 80s with very steamy conditions ahead of the "cold" front.

Houston will be more comfortable on Thursday with a slight drop in humidity. Morning lows the next several days will be in the 60s with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. Look for rain to return early in the coming week.

SPANISH WORD OF THE DAY
Let's do harvest or cosecha, pronounced coh-SAY-chah. Find out about our first corn cosecha in the AND MORE section.

We love to watch things grow--especially we like to see evidence that our children's minds are developing to their fullest potential. Research shows that language learning is very stimulating to brain development. Children who learn languages reap many rewards including improved cognition and memory. Now is a perfect time to order our award winning DVD, Let's Learn Spanish with Frank & Paco from www.frankandpaco.com/. AND MORE
What has Dr. Neil Frank been up to lately? How about coaching golf at the private school his grandchildren attend! And he has been quite a successful coach I might add. His granddaughter, a sophomore, placed 6th at state and his grandson, a senior, placed 6th at state. No wonder he is so good at the annual Weather Museum Golf Classic! His team almost always wins 1st place (and is usually comprised of members of his family). I think that he should be considered a pro now that he is a coach and all. Maybe next year we can hire out members of the Frank family as ringers. Congratulations Dr. Frank on yet another successful career!

The poll about home warranties is closed. 40% don't trust them and do not expect good service. 40% never plan to purchase a home warranty. 20% don't have a home warranty but want to learn more. 0% have one and like it. 0% have one and don't like it. 0% don't have one but plan to get one. Thanks to all who participated.

Hurricane season officially begins in a few days (June 1st). How are you feeling (especially those of you who went through Ike last year)? Our new poll gives you a variety of possible responses, and more than one answer is allowed. Enjoy!

We harvested our first corn cobs today. We might have been just a bit premature, but we just couldn't wait. Happy Summer!

Have a terrific Thursday!
