Weekend Forecast/Cancer Relay Fundraiser/Cascarones

HURRICANES ANS WEATHER
Some thunderstorms Saturday mainly over the central plains and midwest. A cool tongue of air will bring highs of 30s the Rockies. On Sunday, there will be some thunderstorms over the southeast. The southeast and southern plains will have highs in the 70s and 80s through the weekend.

Houston will be mild to warm and muggy through the weekend with mostly cloudy skies. Sunshine and dry weather return for the early part of the coming week.

SPANISH WORD OF THE DAY
Let's do confetti eggs or cascarones, pronounced cahs-cah-rohn-EHS. Guess where I was attacked by cascarones tonight? See the And More section.

When we shot our DVD series, Let's Learn Spanish with Frank & Paco, there had been a lot of rain. Even though much of the shooting was in July, it looked like spring--very lush greens everywhere. That is one of the reasons why the DVD is very visually appealing. Order the award winning Volume 1 from www.frankandpaco.com/. AND MORE
Sarah's school had a Fun Run Fundraising Event tonight. It was a blast!!! Guess what the hottest selling items are?--silly string and cascarones (confetti eggs). With Easter approaching, I wondered if you knew first of all that HEB sells them at a very reasonable price. If you want to make your own, you can put pin holes on 2 ends of an egg and blow the egg out. Growing up, several weeks before Easter, I would blow out the eggs for my Mom every morning before she cooked breakfast. Then we would stuff them ourselves. These had much smaller openings than the kind you can get at HEB. Regardless, they are all fun!

My reporter friend Leslie Williams has written an exceptional article about an overnight cancer fundraising event which is held at Oyster Creek Park in Sugar Land. There is a relay that goes on through the night. To read more about this very interesting event, go to this link:

Good job Leslie!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
