Severe Threat/Rodeo Wrapup/Kemah Better Than Ever!

HURRICANES AND WEATHER
Heads up for the threat of severe weather over the plains, especially north, central Oklahoma and south central Kansas. There will likely be large hail and tornadoes and high winds are also a threat. It will be cooler across the Rockies with highs in the 40s (cooler in the higher elevations). It will be chilly in the northeast with highs in the 20s and 30s...warm across the south and southeast with highs in the 70s and 80s.

Houston will be mostly cloudy, warm and breezy on Monday. Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday evening as the next front approaches. But the upper pattern will get somewhat stuck, keeping Houston in a moist flow until at least Saturday when a front finally moves through and clears the skies and brings back some lower humidity.

SPANISH WORD OF THE DAY
Let's do boardwalk or paseo marĂtimo con tablas, pronounced pah-SAY-oh mah-REE-tee-moh cohn tah-BLAS. Kemah has a fantastic paseo marĂtimo con tablas.

AND MORE
This was the last weekend of the Houston rodeo. Every year it seems to get better and better. We had a wonderful time Saturday and really enjoyed the rodeo and performance by Brooks and Dunn, who included a touching tribute to our nation's military. We parked in the Smithland parking lot north of the stadium...cost $10. Then, we rode the free buses to the rodeo. On the way back we took the light rail, which was also free. And it was very quick...much faster than waiting in line for the buses. This is one of the best ways to go!

Today we went down to Kemah. It is hard to tell that a hurricane ravaged the area just 6 months ago. The rides were working. The playground was still being replaced. Store owners there tell me it will be ready in a month and this time it will have running water...keeping the little ones nice and cool. The Merry-Go-Round was replaced by a 2 level one...very nice!!! The stingray interactive exhibit is not reopened yet. We ate at Landry's and it was just like old times!

Have a great week everyone!
